In 1927 Philip Lipton opened a grocers in Bridgeton on London Road, Glasgow selling fruit and flowers, with small memorials in the window.
The memorial side expanded, then Gerald his son started a firm on the southside of Glasgow, concentrating only on stones, markers, bibles, vases and adding inscriptions for the whole of Scotland.
Gerald retired in 1997 prior to which his son, Charles had joined the business and set up the premises in Bishopbriggs.
After Gerald retired the business premises on the southside of Glasgow were sold, and are no longer part of the Lipton family business although they still carry the name. Gerald sadly passed away in 2005.
Charles celebrates 40 years in the trade making a total of 88 years experience of the Lipton family in the monumental business.
