Read about our process

Charles Lipton hand-carving a granite memorial at the Bishopbriggs yard
Since 1927

It began with small memorials in a grocer's window

Philip Lipton sold fruit, flowers and the occasional small memorial from a shop on London Road, Bridgeton. His son Gerald made the trade the family's own, and Charles, the third generation, has now spent forty years at the bench.

Some of the stones we clean and re-letter today were first cut by his grandfather. That's what we mean when we say we look after families.

Questions families ask us first

Straight answers. If yours isn't here, just call.

Who are Charles Lipton Memorials?

We are a family firm of memorial masons in Bishopbriggs, Glasgow, established in 1927 and now in our third generation. We make granite headstones and memorials, and restore, clean and re-letter existing family stones.

What is included in the price of a headstone?

One price covers everything: the stone, all lettering, photography, the vase, delivery and fixing, the council permit fee and VAT. There are no hidden charges.

Where is your display yard?

At 5 Crosshill Road, Bishopbriggs, Glasgow G64 2PZ, by Strathkelvin Retail Park, with parking at the yard. No appointment is needed. We are open Monday to Thursday 9am to 4pm, Friday 9am to 3:30pm, Saturday 10am to 3:30pm, and Sundays by appointment.

Which areas do you cover?

Glasgow, East Dunbartonshire, Stirling, North Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire. We deliver and set memorials in council and church cemeteries throughout these areas.

Do you handle the cemetery paperwork?

Yes. We check the cemetery's rules before a design is agreed, prepare the memorial permit with the lair holder and pay the fee, which is included in our price.

Can you add a name to an existing headstone?

Yes, including stones made by other masons. We match the original lettering as closely as the stone allows, and can clean or re-fix the memorial at the same time.
