Memorial masons for Glasgow since 1927

Our family began serving Glasgow from a shop on London Road, Bridgeton, in 1927. Three generations later we still make, set and care for headstones across the city, now from our display yard just north of it in Bishopbriggs.

New memorials

Granite headstones, cremation memorials and lawn markers for Glasgow cemeteries, designed with you and set by us. See the range.

Restoration

Cleaning, repair and re-fixing of family stones, including those laid flat after a council safety check. About restoration.

Inscriptions

A further name added to an existing memorial, matched to the original lettering. How it works.

Permits handled

We prepare the Glasgow City Council memorial permit and pay the fee; it's included in our price.

Local knowledge

Memorial masons who know Glasgow

Glasgow is where the Lipton name started, and a good number of the older stones in the city's cemeteries were cut or lettered by the family over the decades. When a Glasgow family brings us a stone to clean or add a name to, we often recognise the style before we read the inscription.

Glasgow City Council sets its own memorial regulations, covering sizes, foundations and lawn sections, and every new stone or added inscription needs its permission. We prepare that application with the lair holder and pay the fee as part of our price. Catholic cemeteries such as St Kentigern's and St Peter's, Dalbeth, are run by the Archdiocese rather than the council and have their own rules, which we know just as well.

Questions from families in Glasgow

Do you make headstones for Glasgow City Council cemeteries?

Yes. We work in council cemeteries across the city, including Lambhill, Riddrie Park, Sandymount and the Linn, and we handle the Glasgow City Council memorial permit for you. The fee is included in our price.

Can you work in Catholic cemeteries like St Kentigern's?

Yes. Cemeteries run by the Archdiocese, such as St Kentigern's in Lambhill and St Peter's in Dalbeth, have their own regulations and approval process. We deal with that for you in the same way as a council cemetery.

Can you restore a very old family stone in Glasgow?

Usually, yes. We clean, re-letter and re-fix older granite, marble and sandstone memorials across the city, and we will tell you honestly what an old stone needs and what it can take.

How far is your yard from Glasgow city centre?

About 15 minutes by car. We are at 5 Crosshill Road, Bishopbriggs G64 2PZ, by Strathkelvin Retail Park, with parking at the yard.
